Helpful Suggestions for the Suzuki Violin Parent

Bring a Spiral Notebook to Every Lesson.

Either you or the teacher will write notes or assignments at every lesson. This will be a good reference if you or the student has any questions or problems.

Parents of Young Children Come to Every Lesson.

Parents must attend lesson to participate and take notes in order to learn how to help practice with their child at home.

Buy Suzuki Book I for Violin and the Audio Tape or CD.

Students should listen to Suzuki Book I Audio Tape or CD several times a day: eg. While eating, in the car, before bedtime, while playing, etc. A great resource for Suzuki materials is either mail order at www.SharMusic.com or stop in the local violin shop (www.SemanViolins.com).

Bring a Blank Audio Tape or Your Camcorder.

Parents can either bring a blank audio tape, or buy one from me for $2, and I will record a practice tape to help with practicing at home. Camcorders are also welcome to tape the lesson for review at home.

Always Bring All Materials With to Every Lesson!

Have a special bag or backpack so the student can easily keep track of all of his/her materials. If you are interested, www.theMusicStand.com has custom totes with a picture of your instrument and the student's name on it.
